I Love Photographing Old Church Buildings

Big Foot Presbyterian Church, North Dakota. (click to enlarge)

I wrote about this church in my recent road trip travelogue.  However, I just love the architecture, the setting, the stormy day, the fine detail in the roof and fencing.  You will see another version of this in black & white in an upcoming Monochrome Monday post.

I used my Nikon Z8 and a Nikon 24-120mm f/4 Z lens to make this image.  As I said, there is extraordinary detail visible when the image is viewed at 100%.

So, you are wondering if the church's name "Big Foot" has anything to do with sasquatch.  No.  This church was about built 100 years ago and was located at "Big Foot Pass" near the Badlands in South Dakota.  The name "bigfoot" in relation to sasquatch wasn't used until a reporter, writing a newspaper article about some huge 'human looking' footprints that were found in Northern California, used the term in a late 1950s in the article.  He coined that term and it has been in use since.
