The (Helpful) Little Country Store

The Little Country Store in Etlan, VA. (click to enlarge)

As much as I like to document old fashioned country stores before they are all replaced by chain outlets like 7-11, etc., when I spotted this store I knew I had to stop.

Not only is this a local gathering place that probably won't be in existence too many more years, but the proprietor seems to be a person who likes to help others.  Or...the proprietor is tired of getting tons of questions from passersby and visitors to the local hiking trails.  In either case, I thought the wall full of 'answers' was something I had not before seen.

This is a crop from the above image.  I think you can read it if you enlarge
it. (click to enlarge)

  1. Nice post! Two old church pews and a couple of makeshift benches for discussions of the weather and local politics. One bench has a makeshift repair. Screen door permanently propped open. Kind'a like it used to be.
