My first photo of 2024. Blackwater River Reflections. (click to enlarge) |
It's always nice to get out and make the first photographs of the year. I wasn't able to get out on January 1st, but I did get out a couple of days later.
This scene is the Blackwater River from a bridge on a small country road. I've passed this many, many times over the years but being a small two-lane road, I've hesitated to stop on the bridge as I don't want to cause a traffic accident—or get myself or anyone else hurt. The approach from both sides are curves and my vehicle would be largely out of sight until just before driving onto the bridge. Not a good idea. But...
On this day, I carefully watched for any traffic behind me for the several miles I drove to get to this bridge. None. Feeling confident that no one was behind me and the potential danger was very, very small, I did stop temporarily on the bridge, rolled down my passenger's window and quickly made some exposures of the far shoreline with these reflections. I DO NOT recommend anyone doing the same.
As I was looking at my images from the bridge in Lightroom, I noticed a particular pattern. See the image below. Do you see it?

This is a slightly different composition. Do you see it? (click to enlarge) |

This is a cropped version of the image above. See it now? (click to enlarge) |
If you haven't spotted it yet, the pattern of the bent trees forms what looks like a fish. Isn't nature interesting?
Always keep a lookout for pictures within your pictures and patterns that can make additional stand-alone images in and of themselves.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
