The Light Was Beautiful Sunday Morning; Had To Get Out And Make Some Photographs

These deadrise work boats sit safely moored on a Sunday morning.  They are used for both
crabbing and oystering.  We have a lot of them in this area and the local residents are always
rewarded with very fresh seafood. (click to enlarge)

When I awoke Sunday morning, I noticed the light outdoors was beautiful.  It varied from heavily overcast and stormy looking to just soft filtered sunlight by high wispy clouds.  Right then and there I decided it was a good morning to get out and make some photographs.  I could find no reason to waste the morning' beautiful light.

I didn't go far from home.  I first drove a few miles to a little inlet that was home to about a dozen white oyster and crabbing boats called deadrises.  They are typically white and their brilliance in the varying light against a dark and foreboding sky was worth a few exposures.

I waited about 15 minutes for someone to come by so I could have a human presence on this
walking trail.  I am really surprised that on December 15th, this many leaves are still on the
trees here in southeastern Virginia.  But I'll take it! (click to enlarge)

Next I drove to a nearby park with the intention of photographing some birds that may still be lingering in our area (southeastern Virginia).  When I rounded a bend on the park road and saw the walking path with most of the orange leaves still on the trees, I thought it would make a nice image if I could catch someone walking.  The S-Curve always adds interest.

I waited for about 15 minutes when this dog-walking couple approached in the distance.  I got down on one knee, checked my camera's settings, composed my intended image and made several exposures trying to capture the man, woman and dog in the best positions.  I didn't get exactly what I wanted as when the man and woman were in full stride, the dog was out of place or looking away or blocking the man's legs.  But I'll take what I got and be happy.

Don't let the good light pass you by.  Grab your camera, get out and make yourself happy by making some interesting photographs.  These photographs and the others I made Sunday morning are not portfolio worthy, but they made me feel good and set the tone for me to have a wonderful rest of the day!
