| Now closed and abandoned, “Bubba's Chikin and Thangs” commanded my attention as I recently drove by. How could I not stop and make a photo or two with that name and color? (click to enlarge) |
...and don't take that title as any sort of criticism or negative remark about the South. The business’ name is about culture more than anything else.
The restaurant appears to have closed some time ago but the yellow/orange paint on the exterior still looks fresh. I wonder if the restaurant's patrons didn’t take to the "Thangs" that were being served? Of course, I have no idea what "Thangs" are. Also, this building is in the middle of nowhere so I’m not sure if there are enough people in the area to make the business viable.
For those of you who may not be familiar with southern U.S. dialect, "thangs" is how the word "things" is often pronounced by those who have a heavy southern accent.

I just love to get out and wander as is noted in the title of this blog. I never know upon what I will stumble during my travels. Fun!
