How cliché is this image? Three Turkey Vultures sitting in a dead tree, biding their time and keeping watch for the recently dead. After all, they don't like their meat too rotten. Freshly dead is what they prefer. Seriously.
Also, one of the birds is taking a relaxing 'sun bath' to help raise its body temperature after a cold night. That seems to be a nice way to start the morning before commencing the hunt for breakfast.
Turkey Vultures' scientific name is Cathartes aura, which is Latin for "cleansing breeze!" Think about that for a minute. Irony?
If you have additional interest in Turkey Vultures, there is a very informative website which provides some very interesting facts about these birds, such as they don't have the ability to kill prey, they defecate on their feet too stay cool if they are too hot or they vomit on anyone or anything that may aggravate them. You can find it here.
You can thank me anytime for providing lots of information you didn't even know you wanted! Or maybe didn't ever want to know! Lol
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
