You Don't Have To Travel Far To Make Fall Foliage Photographs

Some people will drive to far and away places to capture the the natural beauty of fall.  I know people who will drive all the way to Maine, Acadia National Park, across New Hampshire, Vermont, New York State, even to Colorado and places west to see the beauty of the trees.  That's admirable but not altogether necessary.  The photos I've posted here were made either in my yard, in a local park; none more than 15m miles from my home.

So, if you long to make fall foliage photographs, just keep your eyes open during your daily travels and you might be surprised as to what you might see.  You might not capture a grand vista in the Rockies or along the rocky Maine coast, but intimate landscapes and details can be just as pretty and found relatively close to home.

From my backyard.  This scene was found as is.  It was not arranged.  (click to enlarge)

The remainder of these images are from the U.S. Revolutionary War's Yorktown Battlefield,
about 15 miles from from where we just moved. (click to enlarge)

As you make your way throughout your normal travels, practice really "seeing" your surroundings rather than just looking at what's in front of you.  You might be surprised at what you "see."
