For those of you who have been following this blog regularly, you might remember last December my wife and I sold our home and then spent weeks going through 45 years worth of "stuff" we had accumulated. The idea was to donate as much as possible, discard what is not worth donating and keep only the essentials. After we donated as much as we could we still had 28 loads of stuff to take to the local landfill. The reason? We decided to move. At our age, we wanted a master bedroom on the first floor.
That process is now coming to an end. Plan A was to buy a home with a master bedroom on the first floor in a nice, middle class neighborhood. Well, we couldn't find a home to our liking in a place we wanted to spend the rest of our days so we implemented Plan B, which was to buy a piece of property and build a home suited to our final years. As I like to say, in the baseball game of life, I've rounded third base and am (hopefully, very slowly) heading home.
We take possession of our new home today. We will spend the next several days moving some of our remaining possessions ourselves and having professionals move the rest. Then the daunting task of setting up a new household begins. A new house will be nice, but at this point, it is only a house. It will take a while for my wife and I to make it a home.
For these reasons, I'm going to take a week off so I can devote my full attention to the task at hand. But don't worry, I'll be set up in a new office by mid-next week and surely be energized to write more posts and share more images. So if you will, stay tuned, as they say.
Thank you all in advance for your indulgence. In the 8 1/2 years and 1343 posts I've now written, I've not taken any time away. Its about time I did.
See you next Friday.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
