It Felt Really Good!

Yesterday was a holiday in the United States.  Memorial Day.  I posted a short piece here if you are interested.

Not nearly as important, but my wife and I took advantage of the holiday to go out and just ride around our city a bit.  Just to get out and see the sights we've seen hundreds of times before.  Nothing special.  We've missed our freedom.  Our little excursion was a holiday treat to ourselves.

I grabbed my camera and a couple of lenses and laid them on the floor behind the front seats.  You know why; just in case I saw something of interest.  Really...hoping I would something, anything of interest.  It has been weeks since I pressed my shutter button away from my home or property.

As we rode near the river, I spotted two Great Blue Herons in a dead tree.  I made a U-turn, parked the car and decided I was going to get some visual exercise.  I wanted to exercise that right index finger, yes my shutter finger, just a little bit.

By the time I walked over to where the two birds were, one had left the tree and was now standing at the edge of the river.  I made a few images from a few vantage points and walked back to the car with a subtle smile on my face.  It felt really good to get out and create a couple of images.  Really good.  I can hardly wait for the ability to get back out, wander the countryside and photograph—like the old days.  "Like the old days."  Wow!  What a way to characterize just a couple of months ago.  How things change.  How quickly things change.

These are certainly nothing special.  Really, not even worth posting.  However, I thought I would share my joy with all of you.

Olympus camera and the Olympus 300mm f/4 PRO lens.  Handheld.  Small, relatively lightweight for the punches it packs and lovely image quality.

Get out and photograph.  You won't believe how much your spirits can be lifted!  Just stay away from other and be smart about it.
