Third Copy of the X-T1 is Here! Light Leak Problem Fixed!
Last evening the UPS driver delivered my third, and final, copy of the Fujifilm X-T1. I had made up my mind that whether or not this once worked, this would be the last one I would purchase. Three chances, I had determined, was plenty to get a perfect copy of the X-T1. Right after I received the new copy, I put in a fully charged battery, went through the menus, modified the settings to taste (I'm getting pretty good at this since this is the third time I have done it in the past three weeks!) and made some initial test images.
So far, everything works! The image stabilization in Mode 2 (Shooting only) works and there are no "dead" or "hot" pixels. Additionally, I can confirm, there is no light leakage through the left side accessory door. This camera's serial number is above the 5201 threshold and it appears that Fujifilm has fixed that issue quickly and successfully.
Also, the kit lens with this camera also looks like it is a very good copy. The images are sharp across the field, almost no distortion and the controls work very smoothly.
Over the next few days, I will go out and use the camera in a variety of ways to get a good feel for it as well as test the lenses I bought. Additionally, I will test the tracking autofocus. I will report back on these initial tests on Friday.
So far so good. Right now, I'm a happy photographer. More on Friday.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!

Ok with the side ports! But what about the terrible light leaking from the AF assist lamp port?
ReplyDeleteThe only specific test I did was checking the ports on the left side with the door open. However, I made several hundred exposures during my testing of this camera and saw no indication of any kinds of light leaks in the images. Hope this helps.
