No More DSLR

My images can be found at Dennis A. Mook | Photographer.

We adopted the acronym DSLR when digital single lens reflex cameras first appeared as a way to distinguish them from the then predominant film single lens reflex (SLR) camera bodies.  Well, now the situation is reversed as the DSLR is about 99% of the market and the film equivalents are almost no longer produced.

In my view, there is no longer a need to use the term DSLR as we are all speaking about the same thing--a digital single lens reflex camera body.  From now on, I will refer to digital single lens reflex camera bodies as SLRs.  If I have the occasion to refer to a film body, I will refer to it as a "film SLR".  Digital cameras are the norm and the ones of which we are speaking are single lens reflex camera bodies--SLRs.  End of story.  Stop using DSLR.  Spread the word!

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy!
