Fresh Peaches, Central Market, Lancaster, PA |

I'm primarily a landscape and nature photographer who loves to travel. But, when I travel, I always want to keep my options open and explore places that may not include landscapes. Serendipity is one of the best aspects of exploratory photography.
After two days of photographing landscapes in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area, early this morning, we headed downtown to visit the Central Market, an historic farmer's market just off the square in downtown Lancaster. I first visited this market over 50 years ago, my hand being held by my grandmother. It is still the same each time I visit and that is the beauty and charm of this farmer's market. Fruits, vegetables, baked goods, coffee, and many other treats await the shopper and photographer. Many Amish sell there locally grown and made goods at this market. It is well worth a visit.
Just for times like this, I pulled out the Panasonic 20mm F/1.7 lens and slapped it on the E-M5, set the camera on aperture priority, the lens at F/4, the ISO at 1600 and the shutter speed for this shot turned out to be 1/20th second. Tack sharp with sufficient depth of field due to the small sensor. The image stabilization in the E-M5 gave me the stability to make a successful image. The light was ambient. No direct light was directed on the peaches, only the light from the high, really high ceiling.
Don't limit yourself to only subjects you of which you normally make images. Keep your mind and eyes open, be prepared to make images in circumstances not normally found with your usual subjects and you will be surprised what you will find. Serendipity is one of my favorite words as well as favorite things.
In past posts, I have written about the importance of registering your copyright of your images. If I didn't mention it, you should not first publish your images before you register them as the process is different and there are some time limits. So, if I took the above image this morning, how could I have registered it today so I could publish it this evening? Well, I didn't register this image. Typically, if I don't intend to use a specific image, or it is not one of my best that I would submit to my stock agency, I will publish it without registering the copyright. All the other images I made over the past few days will be registered before being posted on my blog or website.
Thanks for looking.
Enjoy!
