It is that day of the year that we give conscious thought to the many, many men and women who died so we are and remain free. Freedom cannot be overvalued. Too many have died. Too many sacrifices have been made. Our freedom is that precious. I am thankful not just today, but every day.
For those of you outside of the United States, many have died for your freedom as well. Take some time to really think about what that means. The fathers, brothers, sons, wives, daughters and sisters who never came home, never had children, never had the opportunity to live out a long fulfilling life. The smiles on their faces gone forever. You are the direct beneficiary of their sacrifice.
Wouldn't it be nice if one day all human beings would act only with kindness and the best interest of others at heart? Wouldn't it be nice if people would give up selfishness and malice? In my lifetime I'm sorry to say that is a pipe dream. But I can still wish!
May you have a thoughtful Memorial Day and a heartfelt "Thank You" to all persons, past and present, for your sacrifices on behalf of the rest of us.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
