Monochrome Monday; Roy’s Airport

Roy's Airport; Amboy, California (click to enlarge)

I previously posted the color version of this image.  If you missed it, you can read the post and see it here.  The color version, to me, is striking.  It is one of my favorite images of last year.  That said, I also shot it in black & white as the monochrome version can be equally striking but completely different.

In the color version, the stark white building contrasts with the bright red lettering, orange vegetation and the almost black, ominous deep blue storm sky.  The color is just as much if not more important to the image as the subject itself.

In the black & white version, it is all about tones, shapes and contrasts.  The sign and vegetation play a much smaller role.

Which do you like better?  Just curious.  I find them equally evocative for different reasons.
