Were you an avid reader and follower of Michael Johnston’s The Online Photographer blog and now can’t find it? I’ll tell you where it can be found. Read on.
With only about thirty days notice, the blog hosting site (Typepad) that Mike used to host The Online Photographer notified him and others that it was ceasing operations and on October 1st shut down and removed all content from all the blogs it hosted. Just like that! Mike had to quickly find a suitable site to host his blog as well as find a way to archive about 20 years of posts and comments. In the end he chose Patreon. You can find his site here:
I believe Mike set up his Patreon site so most of his writings are still free. If you decide to become a contributor (which I think you should as he has provided thousands of pages of valuable and interesting articles to us for free for 20 years!) there are also bonus articles available. But most of his articles are still free.
Back on September 5th, I contacted Mike and asked him if I could assist him in getting out the word about the changes to his blog. I then posted an update on Mike’s behalf in which he describes what was transpiring. You can read that post here. It will give you a better idea of all that happened. Again, the result of this turmoil was him moving his blog to Patreon.
Check it out. Subscribe, at least, for free and become a contributor if you can. His is one of the best photography blogs on the planet.
If you are wondering, no, Mike didn’t ask me to post this. I am just trying to help out a fellow photographer and writer who has seen much of his audience disappear, potentially because his long time readers can’t find his new site.
I thank you.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
