This is a continuation of my series of posts about my recent, fall 2025, cross country and back road trip, primarily following Route 66 west.
There are many, many cool places to stop in Arizona. For example, Holbrook has the Wigwam Motel. Winslow has the famous 'corner.' The Jackrabbit Trading Post has been in business for decades and decades. The giant meteor crater is always interesting to see. Flagstaff, Williams' quaint downtown area, the Grand Canyon (if you want to deviate north a bit), Seligman, Hackberry, Kingman, Cool Springs and, of course, Oatman, the home of all of the free roaming burros. We've stopped in all of them in the past and did so again this time. But since I've previously photographed them extensively, I didn't make many photographs this time.
Route 66 is an endless string of photographic eye candy. Every time you turn around, there is something interesting to photograph.
Here are a few images I made on this trip.

A dual purpose photo. A railroad photo for you railfans and the famous Jackrabbit Trading Post sign for you fans of Route 66 and Americana. The Jackrabbit trading post has been in business since 1949. |

A 1959 Edsel. Auto enthusiasts say it was the Ford Motor Company's biggest blunder. I guess then the Mustang was Ford’s greatest hit? |

I've photographed this little scene in Hackberry before. Each time I return, I see it has degraded just a little more. A good reason not to put off these kinds of trips. Go now! |
Next Up: California. We spent as little time as possible in California as the cost of everything was much greater than any of the other states and places we had visited. For example, gasoline in Texas for $2.56. In California, we saw several places where gasoline was $6.49!
