Are Any Of You Still Having Fujifilm Camera Autofocusing Issues?

Two questions for those of you who own and use one of the fifth generation Fujifilm cameras with the X-Trans 5 sensor.  Those cameras would be the X-T5, X-H2, X-H2s, X-100VI, X-T50 and X-M5.

My questions are,  "Are any of you still having autofocus issues when NOT using subject detection?  If so, will you describe what issues you are having in the comment section below?"

This question does not apply to those of you who use the various subject detection modes as well as people or eye subject detection.  Just autofocus in general.

In the past, I regularly received emails and comments from Fujifilm users from all over the world about AF issues.  I rarely do now so I wonder if, in a broad sense, the non-subject detect AF issues have been resolved to most users’ satisfaction.

Thanks in advance for your time and reply in the comment field below.

    1. Thanks Larry. Even though my X-T5 still remains my all time favorite digital camera, I haven’t used my Fujifilm gear in quite some time. My current goal is to only use my Micro4/3 gear to once and for all prove to myself that it can give me everything I need in all circumstances I encounter going forward. So far, it has. ~Dennis

  3. Micro 43 in the om-1 does great as long as you can hold down your iso

    1. At one time I would have agreed with you. But with today’s AI based noise reduction software, in my opinion and with regularly shooting high ISOs over the past few years, I believe that no longer applies. As an example, here is an image I made at ISO 12,800 and compared with a Fujiflm image at the same ISO: https://www.thewanderinglensman.com/2023/12/an-example-of-high-iso-12800-noise.html. If you look on YouTube, you will find many examples of professional photographers who use Micro4/3 gear, shoot at high ISOs and create beautiful work. Look at some of the past work from Brooke Bartleson, Lee Hoy or Andy Rouse. There are many others. Those are just three that come to mind. They have no qualms about shooting at higher ISOs and neither do I. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate you taking time to write. ~Dennis

  4. Dennis: I switched from Fuji to Nikon a few months ago. Every time I considered upgrading from my X-T3 to an X-H2S I would hear that the latest software update still left the autofocus lacking. I think they’re now at firmware 7.0! As a serious nature photographer, I finally grabbed a Z8, a 24-120 and a 180-600. The autofocus is shockingly good, the files lovely to work with, and the lenses are simply better than the 16-80 and 100-400 I had been using. Of course, the weight is the big difference and that annoys me at times, especially when I’m traveling. And once in a while I miss the Fuji jpegs out of camera, but for my uses, there is no comparison. And, I shot and loved Fuji for years.

    1. Thank you for your input. I, too, have a Z8, 24-120 and 180-600 and you are right on the money in your assessment. ~Dennis
