Colonial Williamsburg is an excellent choice for visiting in the autumn, whether or not you photograph. The 18th century restored homes and businesses, history, re-enactors, gardens and nice weather makes for a perfect visit. I recommend the second week in November as the best time (usually) to see the fall color. During the week there are virtually no crowds as children are in school and not as many people are traveling.
