Monochrome Monday;

Tower of Deliverance Apostolic Holiness Church, Blackstone, Virginia (click to enlarge)

Last Monday I posted a monochrome image from Blackstone, Virginia.  On the same day, I passed this small, blazingly white country church just west of town.  When I saw it sitting alone with the unique architecture, I knew it was a subject I had to photograph.  The building was so white it had to have just been painted.

I find that I enjoy photographing these small rural churches.  They normally look different than the large traditional churches we're used to seeing.  I especially like ones that are wooden clapboard and painted white.  This one is made from cement block.

Sadly, the church is now gone.  The building is still there but its unique architecture has now been dismantled and it appears that it now serves as someone's home.  That is another reminder to photograph those subjects you find visually striking or interesting when you first see them as they might not be there, and certainly will look different, if you postpone the opportunity.

Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
