Living In The Middle of Nowhere

They call Montana "Big Sky" country.  You can see why.  This homestead was in the middle of
nowhere.  I imagine it must have been lonely out in the prairie with no nearby neighbors.
…and then you have the persistent wind! (click to enlarge)

I spotted this abandoned homestead (former ranch?) on U.S. Route 2 in eastern Montana.  Seeing it out there with nothing but the nearby road and what seemingly is miles and miles of open prairie caused me to think about how lonely it might have been living there.  Also, with no grocery stores, hospital, gasoline, drug stores, etc. available for miles, life was probably inconvenient as well.

On the other hand, it may have been exactly what the occupants wanted.  Peace and quiet and no neighbors to bother them.
