Keeping Your Eyes Open

This building is an old, decrepit freight warehouse that sits next to an abandoned railroad line.
I was stopped at a red light, looked around and spotted the building then saw the sign.  I knew
I had to photograph it. (click to enlarge)

Sometimes it pays to just keep your eyes open while you are driving or walking around.  I found these two images that very way.

I spotted the old weathered railroad freight building while momentarily stopped at a red light.  I spotted the sign and knew I had to photograph it.

The image just below was made after walking around a small town marina.  I had never encountered a "Liar's Bench" before.  You needn't even ask.  No, I didn't sit down and start spouting falsehoods!  lol.

These are just two examples of keeping your eyes open to your ever changing surroundings.  For us photographers, it can pay off nicely.

I was exploring a small marina in Onancock, Virginia and spotted
this sign.  I didn't know Liar's Benches existed!

Finally, its not unusual to see crab pot floats in Virginia?  But it is unusual to see them hanging from a 120 year old garage.  To top it off, when I got close I saw Christmas lights as well!  You just don't see that everyday.

I thought the combination of the old, weathered red garage with crab floats and Christmas lights
was worth an exposure or two. (click to enlarge)

I wish I could advise you to disregard the lyrics of the old Doors song which, in part go, "Keep your eyes on the road and hands upon the wheel!"  But I will say, stay situationally aware and you might see something worth photographing.
