The other day I posted a column offering some suggestions about how to get photographically motivated during these short, dull, gray, winter days. As an exercise I suggested picking a color, letter, number, shape, repeating pattern and such and look for it as you go about your daily travels. Just open your eyes to your chosen subject. You can read that post and its images here. I believe you will be surprised how many interesting compositions you may missing by not being tuned in to specific subjects.
I had picked the color red for one of my projects and showed you a few of those in this post but now I will show you some of my images from the color yellow project. I didn't include any fall foliage leaves nor flower blossoms as those are everywhere and 'easy pickings.'

I find it fun and even whimsical in picking these kinds of subjects. You may be a serious photographer but you don’t have to be serious all of the time. Once in a while it is just fun to exercise your vision by looking for things you’ve never before considered. It may even help improve your photographic vision and help you become a better photographer.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!

Enjoying your posts on color projects. I love the Crocs and especially the Crab Pots photos. I have an ongoing red one myself, and it's fun when you find or see objects that fit the bill. I too put a couple of restrictions on it as NW Ohio has the red clothing from Ohio State, Detroit Red Wings, and numerous high schools that made it too easy.
ReplyDeleteI had also started personal projects for numbers, access denied (blockades, road closures, etc), American flag, solo (people by themselves in this busy world) and a couple of others. It's a lot for my small brain to keep straight, and I did back off a couple of them. But still a lot of fun.
Thank you for your compliment, comment and feedback. I think you have some really interesting projects. I like what you’ve chosen. I bet, because of these, you see much more of your surroundings during your travels than do others. Excellent!
