Sometimes Luck Comes My Way!

When luck came my way, I was ready for it! (click to enlarge)

Last evening I was taking the trash can (bin) to the curb for pickup I noticed the full Hunter's Moon just above the horizon and between some pine boughs.  It was that beautiful yellow orange color we see in autumn.  It has been a while since I had made any moon images, so I thought I would made a few for no other reason than to just photograph the moon.

I went inside and attached the 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 lens to my Fujifilm X-H2S.  I set my camera for manual exposure and adjusted it so the moon was properly exposed.  The AF easily focused on the moon and I made a few images.

About that time I heard our nightly three flocks of Canada Geese in the distance.  Each morning they fly over our house to the NW and each evening to the SE.  I had no idea that any would fly directly between the moon and me.  However, I kept my camera pointed at the moon and waited.  As you can see, luck came my way.  I was able to make only one exposure.

I guess the lesson learned is to be in the right place at the right time and, if luck comes your way, be ready for it.
