A Few Unusual Things I Saw Along Route 66

Route 66 is an anomaly in the United States.  There aren't too many over 2200 mile (3500km) roads full of old, unusual, restored and unique sights.  I thought I would post a few of them for your viewing pleasure!

A roadway bridge that has a brick surface. (click to enlarge)

A yurt shaped men's bathroom. (click to enlarge)

A purposefully built leaning water tower to attract attention. (click to enlarge)

The Wagon Wheel Hotel still issues keys.  They also make you fill out one of the old
registration cards as we did 50 years ago. (click to enlarge)

How about curling your hair with this contraption! (click to enlarge)

A John Deere ice cream maker. (click to enlarge)

A mechanical winch on a tow truck. (click to enlarge)

A part of Route 66 that has curbs.  They were designed to funnel rain water down the edges of the
road.  They did but caused flooding at the bottom of the hills because there were no drains.
Whose dumb idea was that? (click to enlarge)

A homemade wooden RV from an old school bus. (click to enlarge)

Burros freely wondering the main street of Oatman, AZ. (click to enlarge)

Spriral steps with no support or any kind. (click to enlarge)

A giant chicken in the back of a Chevy El Camino. (click to enlarge)

A very small full service diner, (click to enlarge)

A working telephone booth. (click to enlarge)

You just never know what weird, unusual or otherwise strange things you may find while traveling across the country.
