Its been so hot that a painted fender can catch fire! (click to enlarge) Leica Minilux (point and shoot); 40mm f/2.4 lens; Kodachrome 64; Exposure Unknown |
When it is this hot and humid for this long, I just run out of things to write about. So, just enjoy this old photo of an "Arrest Me" red hot rod with some beautifully painted custom flames I saw at a hot rod show.
Oh! ...and... "Be cool!" LOL
UPDATE: I’ve been asked what car this is. To the best of my knowledge this car is a 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Sedan. I don’t know if there was a specific model name other than Master Deluxe. If I’m in error, please leave a comment and correct me. Thank you.

Dennis, very nice. A little while ago you mentioned an interesting thought... does some of the post processing software obviate the need to larger sensors? Being tired of lugging around my XH1 and 100-400 on my daily walks up Mt. Diablo, I purchased the Sony RX10 iv. It has a 1" sensor and a 35mm equivalent 24-600 lens. And weighs 2.5 lbs. Image quality is pretty good, even at higher ISO. After applying a little Topaz DeNoiseAi, image quality is actually really good. Certainly good enough for most purposes in today's small screen world. Just thought you might want to consider another alternative. I'm sure the itch is starting up again now that you are down to just one camera! ;-)
ReplyDeleteRudiger, thanks for the info on the new camera. You seem to know me too well! There might be a slight itch starting but we are still not finished building our new house. That means I need to defer any purchases until we complete that project and life returns to some sort of normalcy.
DeleteDear Dennis. I also posess the leica minilux and cannot sell it for nostalgia. In your picture I see the beautifull analogue picturequality. It is still a reference to me. Yes, digital quality is stunning nowadays, but often tending towards "artificial" or unnatural looks. With kind regards, Ton van Schaik
ReplyDeleteTon, thank you for your comment. The Minilux is a very special camera and I don’t envision ever selling mine. I love the 40mm focal length and it produces technically excellent negatives and slides. I made a chart showing the hyper focal distance for each aperture setting. I have it taped on the camera so I can instantly set focus distance and achieve the maximum area in focus. Unfortunately, the Minilux is in storage as we are building a new house. When I can retrieve it, I will write another post about the Minilux and publish that chart. It comes in very handy.
