The other day I was reading one of my favorite blogs, The Online Photographer.  I think Mike Johnston's blog is one of the best in the photographic "blogosphere." (Is that really a word?)  Mike presents an eclectic mix of photographic topics, philosophies and gourmet photographic food for thought.  If you are not reading his blog, treat yourself and subscribe to it for a few weeks and see if you get addicted.  Also, his posts are only half the interest.  Read the comments as well.  They give you a good insight on what lots of other photographers think about the subject.  But I digress.

Mike's August 31st post entitled, "Equipment Versus Pictures," caught my interest and was a good read, however, what really struck a chord with me was a comment by someone with the moniker "Jim in Denver."  His two sentence comment, I think, capsulizes much of the static, discussion, angst, disagreement, noise, debate and thought among the photographic community.  I think Jim's comment really sums things up very succinctly.  I wanted to share it with you.

"We live in a time where all cameras have incredibly, jaw-droppingly good image quality. Use what ya got, find your look, have fun, and make some photos."                     Jim in Denver

For me, those two sentences say so much and I think many of us, including me, should take his words to heart.  Don't worry about what you don't have, what others have, what you could have, just use the terrific gear you have and go out and photograph.
