I received an email from B and H yesterday morning that indicating they had shipped the Fujifilm X-T2 I had pre-ordered on July 7th.  Additionally, they shipped the Booster Grip which I had also pre-ordered.  Both are scheduled to arrive on Monday, September 12th. That is good news!

By Wednesday's blog post, I should have some very preliminary thoughts about this new camera as well as some images for you to see.  If you've been a reader of this blog for any length of time, you know that I test by using a camera and/or lens and don't do lab tests. Also, I'm very straightforward about my findings, likes and dislikes.  I am not beholding to anyone for anything, buy my own gear and run my own tests for one reason—to fully understand my equipment so I can create the images I want to create for my satisfaction. I have always been a big proponent of photographing for yourself and not to try to please others.

This new camera has some features that will bring value to my photography.  One of the reasons I purchased this camera was for its 24mp sensor.  In previous posts, I had mentioned several times that for my stock photographic work, 24mp was my sweet spot in that a sensor of that resolution would allow me to submit files of sufficient size and resolution that they can be utilized for a wider variety of commercial uses and 24mp would also give me a bit of lee way when having to crop to either straighten an horizon or improve a composition, yet retain a large file size for clients for commercial licensing.

Also, there are a few things that I'm very interested in testing.  I am very interested improvements in the continuous focus tracking ability, using the joystick to move the focus points, the greater range for automatically bracketing exposures and the improved film simulations as well as the addition of the Acros black and white film simulation.

More about this camera on Wednesday.  From every thing I have read about it so far, Fuji may have a best seller on their hands with this camera.  It seems to have a great combination of capabilities and image quality.  We shall see.

Thanks for looking. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Mike. The individual is always more important than the gear, but better and more capable gear can be an enabler allowing the person to be more creative and practice more types of photography successfully.
