1) mushy green foliage detail
2) false content in the form of black lines surrounding small non-green objects such as gravel or small tree limbs.
I don't know if Adobe has or has not quietly improved the RAW conversions. However, when I first thought I noticed a difference I went back to some of my original X-Trans files from a couple of years ago and looked at them again in this current version and they are significantly improved!
I'm going to be cautious for now. I'm going to explore this a bit more before I decide whether or not there are real differences and what those differences are. But I am seeing more fine detail and texture in objects, fine detail in green foliage (distant grass has blades and not a mushy rendition) and I'm not seeing the black outlines around small bare tree branches or gravel.
Or maybe it is my imagination or just wishful thinking...
How about you? Seeing anything different? Fujifilm RAW files looking better in this last update? Let us all know.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!

This is good news if true. I've got two weeks of vacation pics to go through. I'm looking forward to weighing in on this.
ReplyDeleteAfter installing LR CC 2015.6 I too saw a significant improvement in raw processing. There had been some improvement on the previous update but this one was quite noticeable.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like film simulation profiles finally work as intended. Image sharpness got a significant boost on older X-T1 shots and X-Pro2 shots are out of this world for detail.
I think Adobe finally understands X-Trans sensor processing.
Tom, thanks for your input. You reinforce what I've been seeing. All improvements are welcome!
