Stop And Photograph; Do Not Drive By!

This is how the M.W. Dunn service station looked 10 1/2 years ago (May, 2005) when I first discovered it. (click to enlarge)

The old pumps as they were then.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of stopping and photographing "right now" when you spot something of interest.  I can't count how many times in the past I would see something while traveling and not stop, thinking that I would stop on the way back, only to find something had changed. Usually it was the light, but sometimes someone will have parked in the area of what I wanted to photograph, or the weather is different, but in many cases, the photo as I originally had seen it, was gone.  Disappointment.

I now make it a practice to stop and photograph whenever I spot something of interest and not count on things being as I saw them upon return.

In the case of the M.W. Dunn service station, much has changed over the years. I first discovered this place by accident in 2005.  I stopped, spent some time and made some images to record the old place.  Today, the old Volkswagen bus is no longer in the garage, the canopy of lights above the pumps is missing, and the place has deteriorated significantly, etc.

Stop.  Stop.  Stop now!  My best advice from experience.

Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
