How Many Opportunities Have You Missed?

Streaking through the sunset SOOC JPEG; Velvia Film Simulation (click to enlarge)
Fuji X-T1, 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 @ 55mm; 1/30th sec. @ f/7.1; ISO 400
How many times have you seen something of interest, wanted to make an image but realized you didn't have a camera with you?  How many opportunities have you missed before that lesson about always having a camera with you sinks in?  How many times did you rely on that mobile phone camera with the very wide angle lens only wishing you had a much longer lens with which to make that memorable image?

Lessons learned, Grasshopper!

I happened to look up and see this sky so I stopped what I was doing, opened my bag with my Fuji X-T1, mounted the 55-200mm lens and planned to make a photo of the clouds formed in an interesting pattern at sunset.  I then made a few exposures.

Before I put my camera away, I looked around the sky and in the distance saw a jet heading in the general direction of what I had just photographed so I waited to see what would happen.  I made several more images with the jet in different positions. My favorite of the the images I made is what you see above.

This is a straight out of the camera JPEG with the Velvia film simulation.  The color and contrast of the sky was not quite this intense, so I set the camera to the Velvia simulation to increase contrast and color intensity to achieve the effect I envisioned.
This is another treatment of the same image but made from the RAW file (click to enlarge)
This little episode is just another reinforcement of the rule to always have a camera.
By the way, this is really a nothing image, but I like it and I photograph for me! You should always photographer for yourself if not commercially engaged.

Grab the camera, Grasshopper, and go out and make photographs!

Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
