One interesting note about this image. I was standing on an old wooden road bridge. It looked as though it may have been a hundred years old. I would have liked to make a photograph of the steam engine going under it, but there was no where for me to stand to capture that composition. So, as the train approached, I walked out on the bridge and decided to photograph the approaching train from there.
Unfortunately for me, between the boards that made up the deck of the bridge were significant gaps. Why was that unfortunate? Well, as the locomotive proceeded under the bridge, I was showered and covered with soot and ash from the coal fired locomotive! I was concentrating so hard on my image, I didn't even think about the ash coming from the stack. Not smart at all. Not a pretty sight!
Lesson Learned: Safety first. Think, think, think. No photograph is worth getting hurt or killed.
