Dust On The E-M1 Sensor? None In 15 Months!

I think it is amazing that after 15 months of using this camera and frequently changing lenses outdoors in all kinds of conditions, I have no discernable dust on the camera's sensor!  I've never, ever had an interchangeable lens digital camera that has had a dust prevention/removal system that works as well.  And...I'm talking about cameras that cost as much as three times as much!

Whatever dust prevention, dust removing, super duper, wave ultrasonic, ultra cool vibrating system they developed, it is working!  Again, I'm amazed.  Thank you Olympus.

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy!

  1. How nice is that? I have been using my E-M1 for 15 months as well and not a spec of dust on the sensor. That was a constant battle with my Canon gear.

  2. I had a bit of sensor dust on my E-M1 a while ago (changed lenses a lot on windy beaches) - cleaned it against Olympus' warning not to do it with pure alkohol and a q-tip, since nothing else worked. It went well and I luckily didn't have any sensor dust since. On my Nikon D800 sensor dust was a far far bigger issue. It's true, Olympus has developed an incredible sensor cleaning technology - they are not bragging much about it, but it's damn good.

  3. Well I have owned he EM-1 since December 2013 and also seen the same : No dust specks on sensor.
But this is actually what I expected from Olympus based on my experience with the E-30 (2009-2014) and EPM-2 (still heavily used).
    Well done Olympus.
I also have to add, that the firmware improvements for the EM-1 are awesome and increases my conficence in my choice of camera..
