HCOD Road Trip Day 2

We left the Charlottesville Virginia area this morning right at 7 a.m.  It was a beautiful day for a drive.  The sky was clear blue, the traffic was light and we enjoyed hours of good conversation.

Our plan was to drive just past Louisville, Kentucky so the remainder of the drive on Thursday would not be long and we could meet our two other friends by the time they arrived at the St. Louis airport in mid-morning.

Time for Plan B.  One of the guys changed his flight and would arrive this evening instead of tomorrow morning.  Hmmm.  As we drove west along I-64 across the entire states of West Virginia, Kentucky and into Indiana, we decided instead of stopping for the night just west of Louisville, we would keep driving until we drew tired.  Well, we drove all the way to St. Louis, a distance of exactly 800 miles, met up with our friend and booked a room at the same hotel.

After our greetings, the three of us enjoyed a very nice meal of mid-western barbeque and ribs and libations to wash it all down.  Good friends, good food, good day.

No images today as we drove a full 14 hours.  Finding and making images was not really on today's agenda. Tomorrow is a different story as the last of the four of us arrives and we get into full adventure.  I suspect we will visit the Gateway Arch and the Lewis and Clark museum in its base to start the day.

Fourteen hours, 800 miles, part of Virginia, all the way across West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. A good day's travel.

The excitement builds as we have no specific plans except to be four lifelong friends on a road trip, taking things as they come.

These sixty-some year old bones and muscles are tired and I predict an early bedtime with a full day tomorrow.

Thanks for looking.
