If your Images Aren't Very Good....

Burned Tree, Yellowstone National Park

...it is probably you, not your gear.

The gear today is so good, even the low cost gear--even point and shoot caemeras, that if you are not happy with the images you make, you better look in the mirror because that is most likely where the problem lies.

You might want to examine...

1)  your understanding of light and shadow (the essence of photography)
2) your knowledge of the art and craft of photography (technical side)
3) your photographic vision (not your eyesight!)
4) your desire to make good images (are you really serious about your photography?)
5) your choice of gear for the type of images you want to make
6) your understanding of how to properly use your gear
7) your photography habits (do you practice? Every craft, sport and artists' endeavor requires a lot of practice to be good)
8) your knowledge and understanding of what makes a good image
9) your confidence and determination
10) your ability to continually fail, get back in there and try again, remembering lessons learned

If you really have mastered all of these things and still don't like your images, just give up and try another craft. Seriously.  It is not for you.

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy!
