Meditation in the Quiet of the Morning

www.dennismook.com

Another image from my series on people in their environment.

I found this woman meditating on the beach just east of Waikiki just after dawn.  I watched her for a few minutes and she never moved.  She was completely absorbed in her activity.

I loved four things about this scene.  First, the woman and her position on the beach.  She portrays concentration, deliberation, calmness and purpose.  Second, the shafts of sunlight and how it highlighted her and her red bag while the rest of the area was in shadow.  Third, the red bag position out of reach.  The red of the bag was a nice contrast to the blue/green of the rest of the scene.  Fourth, the calmness of the ocean which reflected the calmness of the woman.  For me, all four things made the image come together and make it worth recording.  If the ocean would have been rough, I don't think I would have made the image.

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy!
