My images live here.
I don't understand why everyone wants to carry a "pocket camera." They don't want to carry their larger SLR or 4/3 camera or interchangeable lens camera because they say it is too big, too heavy, or too much trouble and they want a high quality camera to carry in their pocket. If you can't be bothered to carry a proper camera with you, maybe photography is not the thing for you. Maybe you just call yourself a photographer and are not really one. Maybe you should just stick to your MP3 playe in your pocket..
Why would I want to carry a camera around in my pocket? Carrying a camera in your pocket is like carrying around an unloaded gun. When you need it--the camera or the gun--you need it right now! By the time you get it out (or load it), chances are the opportunity that you wanted to capture (or in the case of a gun, the opportunity to save your own life) may be passed. You missed it! Either the image is gone or the bad guy got the drop on you. In either case, it is bad news. Don't carry a camera in your pocket or an unloaded gun.
If you are going to carry a camera, carry it around your neck, on a wrist strap, in your hand or attached to your belt or backpack with a device like the plate Peak Design makes. Have it at the ready, right where you can get to it immediately. Don't put it in your pocket. It may be too late.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
