The United States Library of Congress holds vast collections of historical and important documents. Unknown to many, they have a section of historical and important images that are a must see. You can find them on their Flikr Photostream here.
The collection ranges from American Civil War images in the 1860s, to the 1930s and 1940s in color, to the Farm Security Administration as well as Lewis Hine and his child labor images.
In order to fully understand where we are today, both historically and photographically, I believe we must understand our past.
I suggest you take a look at these images. This is a terrific collection. I think you will find them not only fascinating but very informative.
Russell Lee has always been one of my favorite photographers and this image is one of my favorites.
Thanks for looking. Enjoy!
