Monday is Memorial Day; Display Your Flag as Thanks to Those Who Died for Our Freedom

www.dennismook.com

The last Monday in May is Memorial Day here in the United States.  It is the day we set aside to honor those men and women who died in service to our country over the past 237 years.  They died for the cause of freedom.  Memorial Day, which used to be called Decoration Day, was started after the United States' Civil War, which ended in 1865.  It was originally meant to honor those men on both sides who died in that war.

It saddens me that so few people display their flags as respect and thanks for those who died for us to have the life now live.  As with most holidays, the emphasis is on recreational activities, eating and shopping--big sales.

I would ask you two things.  First, take a few minutes to think about, and give thanks, to those men and women who have given their lives on behalf of you and your family and second, please display your flag from dawn to dusk on Monday.

Enjoy!

Thanks for looking.
