You Would Have Thought By Now...

Just an observation I made as I was sitting in my vehicle watching people scramble around in the rain a couple of weeks ago.

-The umbrella was invented in China in the 11th Century B.C. (silk, wax and a bamboo frame)

-The automobile was invented in 1886.

-I'm pretty sure rain was invented before either.

Yet, when it is raining and one uses an umbrella to keep dry (and I’m guessing that is why one would primarily use a waterproof shade over ones’ body), the premise completely falls apart when trying to enter one's vehicle.

You would have thought by now someone would have invented a way to accomplish this but remain dry!

Trying to get in and but you have to close the umbrella.

Ooops!  Getting wet now.

Even wetter now.  All that effort and guess what?  You’re no longer dry.

Go figure?  Lol.

Thanks for looking. Enjoy!

  1. A good example of "It seemed like a good idea at the time". Some of my photo projects fit into the same category.

    1. I was thinking of a square umbrella with one quadrant able to ‘automatically’ double back on itself—a hinged area across the center of the quadrant. That then may allow one to get in the car holding the umbrella above the open door and partially over the roof, flip the quadrant back onto itself and close it while being completely inside the car. Make sense? I’m not sure. Lol. ~Dennis

  2. This is why I wear a rain hat, so I don't get rain drops on my spectacles.
