This Is My 2000th Post! Thank You.

The “Old” Wandering Lensman himself.  …or some sort of caricature of him.  I’m doing pretty 
well for 74 years of age!  In fact, I’m feeling great!  I feel more like 54.  I’ve been blessed
in so many ways and am still passionate about photography. I keep chugging along with a smile!
P.S. I still have my old Domke photo vest (like above) but haven't worn it since the 1980s.  lol.

I can hardly believe it!  This is the 2000th post I've written for this blog.  Wow!  I had no idea it would go on this long.  This is amazing!  How could it be?

I created the blog in April, 2013 (you can read the first post here) as a way to document my first Route 66 road trip.  I wanted a way to keep my family and a few friends up to date as to where I was, what I was doing and what I was seeing.  Secondarily, before starting this blog and for many years, I had a long email list of family and friends to which I would send a photo each Sunday.  I called it, “The Sunday Photo.”  They enjoyed getting the photo along with my short narrative each week and I wanted to somehow continue that in some sort of way.  The blog took its place.  That was it.  I didn't expect The Wandering Lensman to continue very long.  But it has.

It wasn’t too long after those first posts that the blog started getting visits from people I didn’t know.  Also, I started receiving questions about photography as well.  I love helping others so my goal for the blog quickly evolved into one in which I could share my photographic knowledge and help others better enjoy the craft.  I had been photographing seriously since the spring of 1971, photographed professionally in one way or another for much of my adulthood as well as had experience with a wide variety of photography genres.  It seemed that someone I knew was always asking me about photography and this blog became a method for me to share my knowledge, experiences, successes and, also importantly, my mistakes.  

One of the great joys of my life is helping others and if I could help others enjoy photography as much as I have over the decades, then that would be fulfilling.  Also, I quickly found out that by sharing some of the photographs I made as well as some of my adventures, both brought me much satisfaction.  

Two thousand posts later and here we are.

As serious as I can possibly be, I thank each of you for visiting, leaving comments and sharing your knowledge with me.  Not only have I shared my knowledge but I’ve learned a lot from you who have commented.  I wouldn't be writing this post if it weren't for all of you.  

One thing we never have enough of is time and you have so generously shared your limited time with me by coming to the blog, reading it and commenting.  I appreciate each and every one of you who have visited.  I am truly flattered that anyone would care what I have to say.

Because of all of you, the readership of this blog has grown exponentially.  That astounds me!

How long will I continue?  I don't know.  I guess until I either can't write (or think) any longer or I find I have nothing interesting, meaningful, funny or ludicrous to say.  In that case, I may just post a photo now and then.  But for now, I'll continue to post.  My plan is to continue to post twice per week.
