Monochrome Monday; Cade's Cove

Spark's Lane, Cade's Cove in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. (click to enlarge)

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is very photogenic any time of the year but especially so during the last couple of weeks in October.  Instead of capturing the color of the fall foliage in this little composition, I thought I would change up a bit and capture the mood rather than the color by shooting it in black and white.

  1. Lovely image Dennis.

The last time I was in Cade's Cover in the fall, it took an hour to drive the loop due to the traffic, and that was on a weekday. But it is beautiful down there.

    1. Thank you. I made this very early in the morning in the last week of October a few years ago. I was lucky to arrive before the crowds. ~Dennis

  2. Great image! I'd consider this one "Portfolio Worthy". It has it all- mystery, drama, presence, depth, and the fog adds a sense of foreboding.
