The Lovin' Spoonful song of the same title was my first thought when I spotted this house. (click to enlarge) |
Did you ever have to make up your mind?
Pick up on one and leave the other one behind
It's not often easy, and not often kind
Did you ever have to make up your mind?
Did you ever have to finally decide?
Say yes to one and let the other one ride
There's so many changes, and tears you must hide
Did you ever have to finally decide?
The Lovin' Spoonful, 1965

Great find, Dennis!
ReplyDeleteDennis...you may be older than I thought if you are a Lovin' Spoonful listener. I saw them in concert back in the 60's and they did a great job. John Sebastian was terrific as the lead at that time. The verses you chose are so poignant; thanks for reminding us about them. I think we can all recognize ourselves in that stanza. Another great song is the Younger Generation ....
DeleteAnd then I'll know that all I've learned my kid assumes
And all my deepest worries must be his cartoons
And still I'll try to tell him all the things I've done
Relating to what he can do when he becomes a man
And still he'll stick his fingers in the fan
Thanks Jeff. I never saw the Spoonful but I was able to see a few other groups contemporary with them. I have a subscription to Sirius/XM radio and the 60s channel is my favorite music channel so I hear those groups and songs quite often.
