I just wanted to take a minute and express my thanks for all of the blessings that have come my way over my lifetime. I've probably received more blessings than I've ever deserved. I have a wonderful family, friends that are second to none, have been fortunate enough to rise to the top of my chosen profession twice and, as a photographer, am blessed with having the means to travel, buy gear, photograph and share my images and thoughts with you. I am very thankful for each of you. I am grateful that you would choose use some of your precious time to read this blog. Thank you.
Too often we feel life owes us. To often we feel as though we should get more than we give. Too often we feel that we deserve better. One of my closest held values is self-reliance. I don't count on anyone for anything. Anytime someone does something for me, I consider it a gift. No one owes me anything. No one has to do anything for me. Life is not meant to be fair. It is up to each of us to work hard to achieve and overcome adversity that is thrown our way.
Think about your life. What you give and what you take is like a checkbook. Each time you do something for someone else, put others before you, be helpful, show kindness, it is like depositing money in your checking account. Maybe one day you will need to make a withdrawal and, if you haven't made enough deposits, there might just be no one there to offer to help you just when you need it.
Thanksgiving is everyday.
...since my wife and I are having a houseful of family visiting for the next 5 or 6 days, I may take Friday off and not publish a blog post. Just FYI.
