Great shots. The boats are somewhat different than the lobster boats (about the same size though) we see along the Maine coast.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Peter. It is a really an innocuous little place that I find interesting time after time.
DeleteDear Dennis, my name is Terje Nordberg, living in Oslo Norway in Europe. Im very intersted in your pictures of crab pot floats from Messick Point. I have beachcombed a similar float close to Vardø, 70°22'N-31°5'E Varanger Peninsula, far North Norway close to the Russian border. The float is marked F-29 and is very simular to floats on your picture. My e-mail is NorthAtlanticSurfaceDrifters@gmail.com. If you be so kind to send me and e-mail I will send you a picture and explain more. I cooperate with oceanograph Curtis Ebbesmeyer in Seattle, managing the publication Beachcomber Alert. If we can prove the float is from Virginia US, it has followed the Golf stream and North Atlantic current to the midnight sun in the Barents see. Please send me an e-mail, Best regards Terje
