Micro 4/3 Gallery

Olympus E-M1, Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 lens @ 89mm; 1/5000th sec. @ f/2.8; ISO 400 (click to enlarge)
For the past 36 months now, I have predominantly used M4/3 cameras and lenses for the majority of my photographic explorations.  I have made almost 15,000 images with M4/3 gear.

Many people still criticize the format as not serious, too small, unable to produce professional level results, etc.  In response, I thought I would take a selection of my M4/3 images, from both the Olympus E-M5 and E-M1 and create a gallery on my website containing only those format images.  This gallery has a wide variety of images made in a wide variety of circumstances.

You can view my Micro 4/3 gallery here.  While you are there, take a look at my other images.  You may find some you enjoy viewing.

To be fair, there are some things that M4/3 doesn't do as well as full frame or other larger formats.  For example, produce images with a very shallow depth of field (some of that is being overcome with some very fast M4/3 lenses), sports photography, quick follow-focus, very high ISO imagery, etc.

However, there are things that M4/3 does better than full frame.  Smaller, lighter, less expensive, etc.  My point is everything is a trade-off.  You have to decide which types of photography you practice, then buy gear that can support those types of photography.

One thing, in my opinion, that M4/3 does as well as full frame, is that in 99% of most everyone's photographic endeavors, it gives you image quality with which you can be very pleased.

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy!

  1. An absolutely wonderful gallery of mFT images. How could you possibly have taken so many wonderful images with in a 24 month period. Wonderful!

    1. Thank you Peter. I made an error which I have corrected in the post. I have now used M4/3 gear for 36 months rather than 24 months. When I read your comment and you mentioned 24 months, immediately I thought that was incorrect. I went back and pulled the metadata from some early images to check. Thirty-six months ago I purchased the E-M5 and the Panasonic 14-45mm lens to start my M4/3 journey. A great ride!
